30 kinds of old-world bagpipes

Sean Folsom: all pipes.

Did you ever hear St Neil make his joke about how you should buy one of his CDs just so you could annoy your neighbors with it? You could annoy your whole town with this one. Of the 30 different pipes played here, only a handful are readily familiar today. Some of the really obscure ones might deserve to remain so. Our question about track 13's Turkish Tulum is: when you practice, how do you know if you've gotten it right? Not for casual listening, this CD would still be an invaluable reference for piping fans, and a great joy to the severly bagpipe-afflicted.

We highly recomment the companion site to
Bagpipes of the World,
which has sound files, photos, detailed information, and a link to the world's only hurdy-gurdy museum.
