We'd like this CD just for the title, but there's more to it: this is darkly beautiful Celtic rock, lyrical and rhythmic, edgy and sleek. Bur is the brother and former bandmate of Brother. This CD offers his highland pipes played rock-guitar style, frequently along side a cello (a beautiful combination), accompanying Bur's gravely plaintive vocals. Except for a very creditable cover of the Beatles Come Together, all the material is original. It's compeling, revealilng, and bleak songwriting, and always leaves us contemplating the BIG questions, like: How can a handsome man with so many great talents* be so very miserable?
* When we saw him perform, he was a one man band: vocals, pipes, guitars, whistle, mandolin, keyboard, and percussion.**
** Plus we think he did his own sound.
