The Potomac Celtic Festival
We took the new familiy out to visit our Princess Edie and Mr. P.
They really know how to party.
On Saturday, we went to the Potomac Celtic Festival, where there was quality entertainment.
No, really. Our musical day started brightly, with a performance by the Laird's Favorite Minstrel, Charlie Zahm.
Appearing with Charlie was Tad Marks, considered to be one of the finest fiddlers on the East Coast. We particularly liked his bluegrass number.
Mark Sullivan, F.O.Z. (Friend Of Zahm).

THE Princess Edie is over shadowed by The Laird's Favorite Minstrel.
It was really great to see Charlie with such great accompaniment.
Appreciative fans awarded Charlie First Prize in the "Bonnie Calves" Contest.
Charlie will be back later.

We enjoyed the hospitality of the Hospitable ReEnactor.

Say no more.
It's been YEARS since we've seen Andy M. Stewart & Gerry O'Beirne (right to left). They were outstanding. Well, okay, they were standing under the tent-thingy, but IT was out.
A. This world renowned traditional Scottish singer was a founding member of Silly Wizard.
Q. Who is Andy M. Stewart?
A. This world-class Irish singer/ songwriter/ guitarist/ has worked with Patrick Street & Sharon Shannon, has produced CDs for Clandestine and Jen Hammel, and is now touring with world-renowned traditional Scottish singer/Silly Wizard founding member Andy M. Stewart.
Q. Who is Gerry O'Beirne?
Two heads hats are better than one.
THE Princess Edie sits out from under the overshadows to see world-class Irish etc.
The Laird can hardly contain himself.
Amber uses her considerable zoo-keeping skills to subdue him.
Andy takes a break whilst Gerry treats us all to his "Long Beating Wings."
A long-awaited reunion. (Not pictured: Andy M. Stewart.)
As if there wasn't enough excellent music at the festival, the next group we saw was the Battlefield Band. This is Alan Reid, Dean of Scottish Music.
We were thrilled to learn that Pat Kilbride was back with the Band, after a 25-year solo hiatus.
It was wonderful to see Pat & Alan together again, especially since we'd never seen them together before.
Alan Reid looks out over...
.. a rather impressive, and impressed, crowd.
Right to Left: Mike Katz, Alasdair White, Pat Kilbride, Alan Reid.
Mike won the "Best Tropical Ensemble of the Day" award.
Also very tropicalish was Alasdair White. He wasn't even born the last time Pat was with the BB.
Pat chose an even more informal look, but still followed the general tropical camp-shirt trend.
Alan didn't get that memo.
All in all, it was a pleasing encounter. Pat was actually pleased to see us again, we were pleased to meet Alasdair, and the Laird was pleased to meet Alasdair's Travelling Companion.
Alan was perhaps a bit less pleased, but allowed us to do this to him anyway.
Look! Relatives!
The Laird is always willing to chat up an attractive new cousin.
The Photographer is overjoyed to have her 2 favorite Irish guitarists in one picture.
Its great to hear Charlie sing "Shenandoah" when you're there.
